Understanding the Word of Life.
What We Need To Know About The Bible
(Proverbs 2)
First of all the Bible is God's infallible Word, given to us by the inspiration of God's Holy Spirit working in and through the lives of His people, revealed in both the Old and New Testaments. Below are some verses that sum up God's Word:
Hebrews 4 v 12:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
2 Timothy 3 v 16 -17:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Psalms 12 v 6-7:
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Psalms 138 v 2:
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
Proverbs 30 v 5-6:
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Luke 21 v 33:
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
1). Apart from reading (listening) to God's Word and walking in obedience to God: it is vital, we have God's pure uncorrupted Word in our hand – The Authorized / King James Bible. Satan has gone to extreme measures to corrupt the Word of God by producing masses of counterfeit versions. These all stem from gnostic corrupted manuscripts, which go back to the first and second century AD; which the Roman Catholic church has safe guarded.
The Apostle Paul warns of this even in his day
(2 Corinthians 2 v 17):
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
The Apostle Peter also warns
(2 Peter 2 v 2-3):
And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Since the Protestant Reformation in Europe and Britain 500 years ago, Satan has struggled to deceive God's people into using his corrupt versions. But sadly over the last 100 years (especially the last 40 years) Satan has succeeded in taking away the True Word of God and supplanting it with his counterfeit.

b). Textual Comparison Revealing corrupt modern bible versions
Any version can be compared with the Bible comparison charts in the book 'To The Glory Of God', and it will soon become clear what the corruptions are. Be aware that in some modern versions, corruptions have been shuffled around in different editions, so please check several editions to see the true work of Satan.
2). How should we read / listen to God's Holy Word?
Psalms 1 v 1-3 gives us the blue print:
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
God wants us to meditate on His Word day and night. Most people eat at least twice a day, and we need spiritual food more than we need physical food. If we apply God's Word to our lives as He has commanded, then we shall become spiritually strong and fruitful.
God Commanded Joshua (Joshua 1 v 8-9):
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
As a new Christian, I would start by reading the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) in the New Testament several times, then continue through the New Testament to the book of Revelation. I would then continue to the Old Testament and read both Old and New Testaments together, maybe one in the morning and the other in the evening.
Jesus said in John 14:
v 21: He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
v 23b: If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
v24: He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
